The City Council met in special session on August 19, 2008 in the 4th Floor Conference Room-Busch Municipal Building.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas J. Carlson. 

 

 

Roll Call

Present:  John Wylie, Ralph Manley, Denny Whayne, Cindy Rushefsky, Doug Burlison*, Gary Deaver, Mary Collette, Dan Chiles, and Mayor Tom Carlson.  Absent: None.

 

 

 

The following bills appeared on the agenda under Resolutions.

 

 

 

Sponsor:  Carlson. Council Bill 2008-249.  A resolution declaring the results of the Special Election held on the 5th day of August 2008, under the Home Rule Charter of the City of Springfield, Missouri.

 

 

 

Following brief comments by members of City Council regarding the overwhelming support of the community for this transportation tax, an opportunity was given for citizens to express their views. 

 

 

 

With no appearances, the discussion was closed. 

 

 

 

      Council Bill 2008-249. Resolution was approved by the following vote:  Ayes: Wylie, Manley, Whayne, Rushefsky, Burlison, Deaver, Collette, Chiles, and Carlson.  Nays: None.  Abstain:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

 

 

John Wylie moved to hold a closed meeting to discuss legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body, and any privileged and confidential communications, pursuant to Section 610.021 (1) RSMO. 2006, and this meeting, record, and vote be closed and the City Council shall stand adjourned at the end of the closed session. 

 

Mary Collette seconded and the motion was approved by the following vote:  Ayes: Wylie, Manley, Whayne, Rushefsky, Burlison, Deaver, Collette, Chiles, and Carlson.  Nays: None.  Abstain:  None.  Absent:  None.
