Restaurant Inspections

photo: chef preparing food in kitchen

Food establishments are inspected one to three times a year. The frequency of inspection is based on the type of food served, the population served, the difficulty level of food preparation and the inspection history of the facility.

Restaurants preparing food from raw ingredients are inspected more often than convenience stores that serve only non-potentially hazardous foods such as popcorn and soda.

Violations found during an inspection fall into the critical or non-critical category.

Animal Control

photo: girl holding puppy

We reunite dogs and cats with their owners, facilitate adoptions by approved rescue partners, and protect residents from animals running at large.

If you have lost a dog, please review the photos below or visit the Animal Shelter in person during hours of operation to view the dogs being held there. We cannot go by descriptions over the phone to help you decide if your dog is being held at the Animal Shelter.

Dogs will be held at the Animal Shelter for a minimum of five days, including weekends and holidays.

Pet AdoptionWe have partnered with Pefinder.com to display animals currently housed and the Animal Shelter and animals elgible for adoptions by qualified animal resuce groups. Click on the links below to view these animals.

The Animal Shelter accepts owner-turn-ins from inside the Springfield City limits for a $20 fee during normal public hours. Dogs may be turned in from the Urban Animal Control Area.
