- Incorporating the community's unique heritage into proposed plans
is seen as very important.
- Use of the old James River Bridge (currently disassembled and stockpiled
by Ozark Greenways) a 113 year old iron bridge with a great deal of
historic value. Could it be used in the downtown Springfield plan? (Approximate
span, 100')
- Tie into downtown historic value with signs/placards to identify significance
of area or buildings in the Civic Park and aid the revitalization of
downtown with a historic angle
- Possibly reconstructing the old Campbell Street Bridge that once fueled
Springfield's early growth would not only provide an artistic and perhaps
functionary purpose, it would literally help 'bridge' the ultra-modern
aspects of Springfield's 20/20 plan with the reawakening of Jordan Creek
and other features of our early heritage. (this was raised at the streetscape
presentation)
