Since the City Clerk's office has responsibility for maintaining official city records (ordinances, contracts, resolutions and other vital documents), many citizens approach this office for research or seeking information. Many historic records are available on microfilm. Copies of proposed ordinances are available, along with minutes of public meetings.
The City Clerk can also provide information on the political process. Check here for records that are available online. The Springfield City Charter, first approved in 1953 by Springfield voters, is available for inspection and / or purchase of $6.
Citizen Opportunities for Involvement
The City Clerk is available to assist citizens with information to become better informed, and to provide opportunities to get more involved. Learn more about the volunteer boards and commissions. The Public Involvement Committee, made up of the 4 zone council members, considers applications for appointment to boards and commissions.
