Following an incident on May 9, the Springfield Police Department conducted an internal investigation of the actions taken by Officer Jason Shuck. In response to numerous media inquiries, Police Chief Paul Williams is issuing the following statement.
Upon completion of the internal investigation, the command staff of the Springfield Police Department has been engaged in our established process of determining the appropriate level of discipline for Officer Shuck. Prior to the imposition of discipline, each employee is afforded the opportunity to attend a pre-disciplinary hearing. The hearing for Officer Shuck was held yesterday. Today, Officer Shuck submitted a letter of resignation from the SPD. I have accepted his resignation, effective immediately.
As of Aug. 14, 2014, Jason Shuck is no longer employed by the City of Springfield. No further information on this personnel matter will be made available.
