About Watercolor U.S.A.
Watercolor U.S.A. is a nationally known, annual juried exhibition recognizing aqueous media painting. Featuring some of the country's best known artists and jurors, the event is open to artists from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Hundreds of entries are received annually and judged for a variety of prizes and possible purchase by the Museum or its patrons. Approximately $40,000 in cash, merchandise, patron and Springfield Art Museum purchase awards are available. Organized in 1962 by the Springfield Art Museum, this event attracts thousands of visitors annually to the Museum and to Springfield to view the work of exhibitors.

Judge Barbara O'Brien, Executive Director of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, selected 57 works by 46 artists for the 2013 exhibition. 21 states are represented in the exhibition.
A total of 244 artists entered 422 paintings. Entries were received from 37 states.
The Springfield Art Museum selected Andrew Kish III's Paradox: The Quest of Odin as a Museum Purchase Award. One additional work - Preserving by Denny Bond - was added to the Museum's Permanent Collections through the generosity of the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates and the Watercolor U.S.A. Honor Society.
