222 N. Park Central
Date of Report: April 27, 2009
Assessment Funding: EPA Brownfields Hazardous Assessment Grant
Site Background
Environmental Works, Inc. conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of the property located at 222 N. Park Central in Springfield, Missouri. The subject property is located southeast of the intersection of North Park Central and Olive Street and currently contains a 3-story building with a basement built in approximately 1884. The third story was added sometime between 1886 and 1891. The Riksha, a restaurant, has occupied the main floor and basement for approximately the last 16 years. Historically the subject property has been a variety of restaurants from the 1920s to 2009. From 1884 to the early 1900s occupants of the Site have included a drug store, boarding house, doctor’s office, a saloon, and a lodge.
Findings
The Phase I ESA did not identify evidence of recognized environmental conditions for the subject property.
Suspect ACMs observed at the Site include floor tile and suspended ceiling tile. Sampling and analysis of those materials would be necessary in order to determine the asbestos content of these items, if any.
