Dear 2008 Firefighter Candidate:
Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of City
of Springfield Firefighter! Recognizing that it is both costly and
time consuming to complete this process, the City of Springfield
Fire and Human Resources Departments have decided to make significant
changes to the testing process for 2008, with the intent of reducing
travel costs for our candidates. As mentioned in the posting information,
this year the process for testing will be as follows:

Written exams will be graded at the time of testing. Candidates
with passing scores will be scheduled for the physical agility.

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications are invited to participate
in the testing process, up to the interviews. To be eligible for
the interview phase, candidates must have National Registry or Missouri
EMT-B and (IFSAC) Firefighter I & II. Candidates must
possess Missouri EMT-B before the Springfield Fire Department will
consider making a job offer.
CRITICAL INFORMATION
• ONLY candidates who possess the EMT-B and (IFSAC) Firefighter
I & II will be invited to interview.
• Supporting documentation for EMT-B and Firefighter I
& II MUST be submitted NO LATER THAN October 17th in order
to be eligible for the interviews.
REMEMBER: ANY CANDIDATE WHO DOES NOT PROVIDE THEIR
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION PRIOR TO THE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST WILL
NOT BE INVITED TO INTERVIEW.
