Jerry Compton was appointed as Zone Three Councilmember in May of 2009. He currently serves on the Finance and Administration Committee and the Public Involvement Committee.

As a life-long resident of Springfield, Mr. Compton’s professional career includes more than twenty-five years as an architect, having opened his own architectural firm in 2003. Mr. Compton also has project management experience in fifteen states.

Mr. Compton received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Drury University.

Mr. Compton’s civic involvement includes service on the Planning and Zoning Commission for over six years and service on the Personnel Board for over a year until his appointment to City Council. He is a member of St. James Episcopal Church Vestry as well as being active in the Boy Scouts and the Youth Symphony.

Mr. Compton has been married to Patricia, who he met at Drury University, for thirty-seven years. Mr. Compton has four children and 2 grandchildren.
