Recap of 50th Anniversary Event

If you missed the City's event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech you can watch a review of the event.

Resources from the event include:

As you may know, the collaborative presented the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech by hosting a unity march downtown, followed by an event at Park Central Square. This was a great success, but is only the beginning.

We want to build on that momentum to carry our community into the next wave of the conversation and awareness. We need your help and involvement.

The Greater Springfield Race and Faith Collaborative is embarking on a year-long journey to promote a deeper understanding of race and race relations via a conversation within our community. It is our intention to reach out and engage a wide variety of stakeholder groups – faith-based organizations, churches, businesses, schools, non-profits and public entities – in a community conversation that is divided into four quarters, bookended by two events: the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech on Aug. 28, and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act in July of 2014.
