The rates below were approved by The City Council of Springfield Missouri on 6/07/2011 and became effective July 1, 2011. The new rates supersede all rates made effective July 1, 2010.

The extra charges for Biochemical Oxygen Demand and Total Suspended Solids shall be as follows:
- (a) For 5-day Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) in excess of 1.60 pounds (256 mg/L) for each 100 cubic feet of wastewater, an additional charge shall be made for each such excess pound or fraction thereof as set out above.
- (b)For Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in excess of 1.90 pounds (304 milligrams per liter) for each 100 cubic feet of wastewater, an additional charge shall be made for each such excess pound or fraction thereof as set out above.
The City shall have the right to measure and determine the strength and content of all sewage and wastewater discharged, either directly or indirectly, into the City's sanitary sewerage system in such a manner and by such a method as it may deem practical in light of conditions and attending circumstances of the case, in order to determine the proper charge.
The determination of BOD5 and TSS contained in the wastewater shall be in accordance with the latest edition of "Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater", as written by the American Public Health Association, American Water Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation.
