Springfield's voter approved Integrated Solid Waste Management System (ISWMS) is funded by revenues generated from tipping fees at the City's Sanitary Landfill as well as several revenue sources, including the sale of yardwaste compost and mulch products, grants, honor system fees, and donations. The ISWMS consists of a variety of successful programs and services, including:

• Requirement for licensed trash haulers to offer curbside recycling
• Convenient recycling centers for residents
• Household chemical collection center
• Yardwaste recycling center
• Information and education programs
• Springfield Sanitary Landfill
• Market Development
