  • employs more than 200 people
  • has an annual budget of about $16 million
  • was created in the 1840s as a volunteer department and became a paid department in 1897
  • responds to more than 13,000 calls annually (including nearly 8,000 medical calls)
  • conducts over 350 inspections by fire marshals and over 1,500 business inspections by fire crews annually
