ADULT CLASSES

Students must be 18 years or older to take these classes unless the instructor agrees to an exception.

Inclement Weather - Adults check with the Museum Educator about the status of classes.
            

• BEGINNING TECHNIQUES IN WATERCOLOR I:  La Monte Northington

Tuesday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Painting and Drawing Studio Art Supplies LaMonte

A watercolor class for students at the beginning and intermediate level. Demonstrations and individualized instruction

while you develop your skills in watercolor.

This class will introduce artists to color theory, modeling forms and composition using a still life. The class is for

beginning and intermediate students and will be taught using acrylic paints.

• CLAY SCULPTURE AND POTTERY (Items for the Garden and Home): Marilyn McIntyre

Learn hand building techniques in this open studio environment. Emphasis on sculptures and pottery for home and garden.

Learn the basics of working with pastel medium. This class is for the beginning and intermediate student and will

introduce a variety of techniques. Students will sharpen their use of color and composition as they work from a still life.

A watercolor class for students at the intermediate and advanced level. Demonstrations and individualized instruction

while you develop your skills in watercolor.

Drawing for the beginning and intermediate level artist. Various techniques of drawing will be included utilizing a

variety of  materials.

• CREATING WATERCOLOR CARDS: Mary L. Johnson

A watercolor class for students at the beginning and intermediate level. Demonstrations and individualized instruction

while you develop your skills in creating seasonal cards with watercolor.

• FIGURE DRAWING: Jan Bennicoff
Thursday evening 5:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Painting and Drawing Studio Art Supplies Bennicoff
$65 + Materials (Bring drawing materials and a large 18 x 24  newsprint tablet to the first class. Instructor will discuss additional materials.) Sharpen your skills as you work from the nude, human figure in a class for the serious student.

• POTTERY: Patricia Ervin
Thursday evening 5:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Pottery Studio
$75 Materials included.
Learn hand building and wheel throwing in this open studio environment. Individualized instruction of techniques for all levels of development will be provided. Construct and glaze your pottery.

SATURDAY CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

All classes are $40 - Materials included.

Inclement Weather - If Springfield schools cancel  due to snow, children's classes at the Museum will be cancelled. If Springfield schools are cancelled on Friday, due to snow, Saturday classes at the Museum will be cancelled. We are unable to make-up classes  for snow days. All classes are on Saturday except for home school which is on Friday.

• ART IS ELEMENTARY FOR HOME SCHOOL KIDS, HSC Section I: Sara Crownhart
Friday 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Watercolor Studio
Grades K - 2
An introduction of the elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, and form) through working with clay, paint, paper, and found objects. Make art projects and learn how artists use the elements of art to create masterpieces.

POTTERY: Zachery Tate

Squish it! Squeeze it! Build unique coil and slab pots or create imaginary animals and items from clay. An introduction to the exciting world of clay and three-dimensional art.

Ages 3 ½ - 5 years old
A class is designed to introduce young children to the exciting world of art. Stories, music, gallery and art projects will provide artistic experiences for preschoolers. Students attend the class without their parents.

Grades K - 2

Grades 3 - 5

Comics have a history hundreds of years old. Combine story telling, figure drawing and illustration to create your own stories. Students will also learn character development, setting, movement, inking and coloring.

•  ART FUN-DA-MENTALS: Beth Ozbun
11:30 a.m - 1:00 p.m. Drawing and Painting Studio
Grades 3 - 5
Experiment with a variety of art materials as you create paintings, pots, prints and learn of other art forms.

• BEGINNING DRAWING AND PAINTING Section II : Beth Ozbun
1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Drawing and Painting Studio

Grades 3 - 8
Paint and draw your favorite subjects. Explore art using pencils, charcoal, pencils, ink and watercolor in this exciting

class related to basic art techniques. Gallery walks through the Museum may be incorporated into the class format.
