The City has been seeking input on the future uses and activities for these sites. Below are several resources from the public input open house held February 8, 2007 at the Discovery Center.

Vision 20/20

The Jordan Valley Planning Area is bounded by National Avenue on the east, Central Street on the north, Kansas Expressway on the west, and Elm Street on the south. The Jordan Valley strategy contained in Vision 20/20 is aimed at revitalization in the center city of Springfield.

Where We Are Now

  • It has been over five years since the Jordan Valley Concept Plan was first developed.
  • A number of key developments have occurred that may have an impact on the original concept.
  • There is a need to "reconnect" the community to the Jordan Valley Plan and update the concepts for the undeveloped areas.

Ideas to Consider

  • What types of uses are needed?
  • How should development relate to downtown? To Walnut Street? To Commercial Street?
  • How will the project contribute to the social, environmental, and economic quality of the community?
