Springfield Planning & Zoning Commission
2008 Annual Landscape Awards

The Springfield Planning and Zoning Commission is soliciting nominations for the Annual Landscape Awards.  The nominations may be made by anyone, not just the owner of the site. All nominated properties must be within the Springfield City limits.

Nominations Accepted April 11 – August 22, 2008.

All nominations will fall under one of the following categories:

  1. Improvement or Rehabilitation of an Existing Site:
    This category addresses conversion or redevelopment of an existing site.
  2. Retail Establishment or General:
    This category includes overall development of a retail site.
  3. Manufacturing or Office Establishment:
    This category includes overall development of a manufacturing or office establishment.
  4. Residential Subdivision / Neighborhood or Mixed-Use Development:
    This category looks at landscaping interspersed throughout a subdivision and either under common ownership or owned by the general developer.  Also included are planned developments.
  5. Residence:
    This category covers landscaping of single-family residences that can be seen from the street.
  6. Public Properties:
    This category includes publicly owned properties and grounds.
  7. Special Recognition Certificate:
    This category covers those properties that may not easily fit another category, or may have been nominated and although not a winner nonetheless deserve recognition for their effort.

Recognition for Volunteerism on Public Grounds:
Special plaque for volunteers.

Apply in one of three ways:

Please fill out a form for each site nominated. City staff will photograph each property nominated.

TIME LINE:

April 11 - Begin accepting nominations from public.
August 22 - Deadline for nominations submitted by public.
August 29 - Review of nominations.
September - Recommendations to Planning & Zoning Commission and vote.
October - Awards presentation at Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
