General Service Information
- The two oldest buildings are the Calaboose (original jail) built in
1874 and the Historic City Hall built in 1894.
- This section employs several skilled craft workers representing nearly
all building trades (H/VAC, electrical, plumbing, millwork, masonry,
painting, locksmithing, and roofers) to perform the necessary work.
- Provides custodial services, contract and in-house, for 25 facilities
(276,603 square feet)
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance on 53 city owned storm-warning
sirens and 28 county owned storm-warning sirens.
- Administers contracts for trash collection, pest control, uniform rental,
elevator, water conditioning, janitorial supplies, deodorizers, fire
extinguishers and walk-off mats for all public buildings.
- Provides mail collection and delivery to and from the U.S. Post office
and Government complex.
