The Sanitary Services Division maintains the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) which serves an area of 148 sqare miles that includes the City of Springfield, surrounding Greene County, and the communities of Willard, Battlefield, and Strafford. The POTW consists of the wastewater collection system and two treatment plants. On average, over 39,000,000 gallons of wastewater are collected and treated every day. Quality improvement and pollution prevention programs ensure the protection of community and environmental health while increasing efficiency and innovation. See the Division's Mission.
