Adopt A Street ProgramThe Adopt-A-Street Program recognizes the commitment of volunteers to keep our City’s roadways free from litter and debris. Started in 1989, the program has grown to include over 162 organizations volunteering to keep more than 93 miles of roadway free of litter and debris. Individuals, community groups, business owners, schools, churches and service clubs are invited to participate. Volunteers who adopt a minimum of 0.5 miles of arterial or collector streets, and conduct litter pick-up at least three times a year, will receive recognition on two Adopt-A-Street signs posted on each end of the adopted street segment and recognition here on the Adopt-A-Street Program Participants List (pdf). The City provides trash bags to collect debris and will pick up filled bags. Organizations are required to participate for at least one full year and adoption is renewable annually, given that program requirements are met. How to Adopt A Street:
