SATO 48 Partnership
Every year, Movies at Founders includes screening of select films produced for the annual SATO 48, or Springfield and the Ozarks 48-hour Film Challenge.
SATO 48 challenges local filmmakers to write, shoot, edit and submit a 5-minute film in 48 hours. None of the teams know what their film must be about until they all open, simultaneously, a secret "Inspiration Package" which describes the criteria of the short film. It is then up to each individual filmmaking team to interpret the criteria and produce their film within the time limit.
This year, the theme was "Reasons Not to Call 911." Filmmakers had to utilize the theme as well as include a newspaper as a prop, have a character say the word "Eight," and draw or show a Figure 8 — twice.
70 filmmakers completed the challenge. Eight films will be screened at Movies at Founders, prior to the Saturday feature film.
