The Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, a citizen-based, not-for-profit organization working to protect community drinking water supplies, has a close working relationship with the Springfield/Greene County Health Department.

Drinking water and community health are, of course, tightly linked.

Through collaborative projects with the Health Department, we have examined issues relating to water quality and pollution, particularly the bacterial loading of drinking water sources and natural swimming holes in Greene County.

The health department responds to the community's need to know about water quality by posting up-to-date information on its website, along with educational programs to inform citizens more fully about the problem and potential solutions.

We have found their website to contain timely, accurate information invaluable in planning water quality projects and developing educational programs.
