H1N1 Quick Facts

H1N1 influenza is a brand new strain of influenza, never seen before.
The best protection against H1N1 is to wash your hands, avoid touching your face and keep a distance from people who are sick.
The current strain of H1N1 influenza is being successfully treated with two antiviral medications.
At this time the CDC does NOT recommend closing schools.
The health department will continue to work closely with response partners to protect public health.
You can help protect our community by staying home when you are sick, or by keeping children home when they are sick.

2009 H1N1 Influenza

On September 8, 2009 the Springfield-Greene County Health Department joined local public health departments across the statea and health care partners in Greene County in launching a campaign called Fight the Flu. This campaign encourages Missouri residents to work together to help protect our families and our communities against all types of flu.
