Karen has a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Industry from Kansas State University. She has worked 20 years in the areas of quality control, food production and sanitation and regulation of food safety and environmental programs. She holds national certification through National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), is a member of the board of certification of Environmental Public Health Specialists and chairs the statewide Food Advisory Committee.

Karen enjoys promoting food safety to the food establishments she works with, as well as to the public.
