Program Overview . . .
Health department staff work to protect the health of Greene County residents by offering annual influenza vaccinations and prevention information.

Vaccinations . . .
Each fall the health department works with other agencies in the community to provide influenza vaccinations to individuals considered to be at high-risk. In addition, the health department holds several vaccination clinics in the community.

Dates are currently being finalized for the 2007 health department clinics, however the Springfield Flu Immunization Coalition has set their flu clinic dates and locations for individuals considered to be at high risk.

In addition, community members may be able to receive vaccinations in one of the following ways:
  • Contact your physician or health care provider to see if you can receive a flu vaccination in the office.
  • Check with your employer to see if they will offer vaccinations at your workplace.
  • Contact your local pharmacy, or visit www.flucliniclocator.org to find a pharmacy near you that will offer vaccinations.
Prevention . . .
Receiving an annual flu vaccination is the best way to protect yourself from getting the flu. Additional prevention methods are also effective in protecting you from the flu, as well as other illnesses.
  • Eat healthy foods.
  • Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
  • Get an adequate amount of rest.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
  • Avoid crowds.
  • Stay home if you are ill.

The 2004-2005 flu vaccine season was a challenge. There were many agencies and organizations that went beyond the call of duty this season.

They scheduled clinics, obtained and distributed vaccine, promoted information about influenza disease and vaccination, contacted people who needed vaccine and much more.

The Coalition would like to recognize your organization for these efforts by giving you a certificate of recognition.

You are a vital part of the state's health care network, and all the members of our coalition greatly appreciate the work you do.
