Nurses are consistently ranked by the public as being one of the most honest and ethical professions in our society. Our nursing staff at the Springfield-Greene County Health Department truly cares about the individuals and families they serve in our community. Our nurses' focus is to help area residents achieve their health goals.
We provide the following services:
- Maternal, infant and child home visits
- Patient services and screenings
- Blood pressure screenings
- Head lice screening and education

- Community resource information and referrals

Nancy has more than 30 years of experience in nursing. She is a graduate of Burge School of Nursing and Southwest Missouri State University, and holds a master of science degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Nancy joined the Springfield-Greene County Health Department in 2006, having spent much of her career in nursing staff development and academic nursing education. She has been a faculty member in diploma, associate degree, and baccalaureate nursing programs, including 12 years teaching community/public health nursing. Public health nursing is Nancy's favorite area of practice because of its focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and protection of the health of the community. - Karen James, RN, Public Health Nurse

Karen has been a registered nurse for twelve years. Before becoming a nurse, she was the office manager for a public television station in Missouri, a fire code inspector in Colorado and a weights and measures inspector in Nebraska. Karen loves her job at the Springfield-Greene County Health Department providing prenatal case management to high-risk women, giving immunizations, and making presentations on various health topics, including the harmful effects of tobacco use. - Tammy Phillips, BSN, RN, Public Health Nurse

Tammy graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in 1995 and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2000 from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She has worked in public health since 1997 and began working at the Springfield-Greene County Health Department in 2000. Louise is a 2001 graduate from Cox College of Nursing and Health Services with an ASN degree. She continued her education to complete her BSN from Missouri State University in 2007. Before joining the Springfield Greene County Health Department she worked eight years at the Webster County Health Unit. Louise has a passion for public health and health promotion. She greatly enjoys working in the community encouraging and empowering individuals to make positive health decisions for themselves and their families. - Ruth Brown, BSN, RN, Community Health Nurse

Ruth received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Truman State University in 2003. Prior to her work at the health department, Ruth worked as a staff nurse on a Maternal Newborn Care unit in a local hospital. Rinda received her Associate Degree and Bachelors Degree in nursing from Cox College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She also recently completed a Master's Degree in Public Health at Southwest Missouri State University. Linda has been with the health department since 2000. She worked with the LINK Clinic for 5 years and is now a Community Health Nurse working on a variety of nursing programs. She is a registered nurse who has been in nursing for 25 years. She spent the first 21 years with the St. John's Physicians and Clinics Health System in internal medicine. Leah received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cox College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2008. After graduation, she was employed in emergency department and hospice settings. Her interest in public health nursing began in her first semester of nursing school because of its focus on health education and primary prevention of illness. She enjoys educating and encouraging high-risk populations to make positive lifestyle choices. - Leslie Davis, RN, Program Coordinator

Leslie is a registered nurse who graduated from a nursing diploma program. She was employed for three years at St. John's Regional Health Center on a large medical-surgical floor. In addition she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) for more than 19 years. While employed with the VNA Leslie held several positions, including general nursing, intravenous team member and supervisor. Leslie has been at the Springfield-Greene County Health Department since June 1995. She is currently a Public Health Nurse and the Immunization Clinic Coordinator. - Theresa Williams, Office Administrator

Connie was a medical secretary/transcriptionist for St. John's for 31 years. Most recently she was at Community Hospice of America where she worked in medical records. She is delighted to be at the health department.
