Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program
Program Overview . . .
Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Education and Supplemental Food Program (WIC) serves to safeguard the health of eligible women, infants and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk. WIC is designed to improve the nutritional health of pregnant women, breastfeeding moms, infants and children with the goal of improving the overall health of families.
While the WIC program does not specifically serve dads or other male caregivers, they are always welcome to attend classes and ask questions.
WIC also provides vouchers to purchase nutritious supplemental foods like milk, eggs, cheese, juice, cereal, peanut butter, and/or dry beans or peas at several local businesses.
Eligibility . . .
WIC is open to individuals who meet income guidelines and are determined by health professionals to be at nutritional risk. The unborn child is counted as a member of the family when eligibility is determined. Income guidelines are based on 185 percent of poverty level.

The Women, Infants and Children Clinic is open Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 7:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.

- Lactation bra fitting and supplies
- Breast pump rental
- Dental health education
- Doula services in partnership with the Doula Foundation of Mid-America include prenatal classes, prenatal yoga and doula services
- Itsy Bitsy Yoga, through Doula partnership
- Parents as Teachers on site daily to meet with families, through the Ready to Learn grant
- Springfield-Greene County Library staff are on site to work with families, through the Ready to Learn grant
- Satellite clinics
