6th Annual Jordan Valley Resource Day
June 12, 2006

The City of Springfield will host the 6th annual Jordan Valley Resource Day on Thursday, June 15, 2006, with this year’s theme focusing on investor confidence with the private and not-for-profit development linked to the public investment in Jordan Valley Park and Downtown Springfield.

Resource Day begins at 11:45 a.m. at the Discovery Center with lunch, welcoming comments by City Manager Bob Cumley, and a tour of the “green building” expansion.

A panel discussion will follow at 1:15 p.m., on the topic of investor confidence. The scheduled panelists include: Developer Nancy Dornan, President of the Springfield Preservation Land Trust; Brian Fogle, Vice President of Community Development at Great Southern Bank; Developer Matt Miller, of The Miller Companies; Architect Tim Rosenbury of Butler, Rosenbury & Partners; Developer Scott Tillman of Tillman Redevelopment Co.; and Rusty Worley, executive director of the Urban Districts Alliance.

A bus tour will begin about 3:30 p.m., and will focus on Downtown, the Boonville Avenue corridor with the Jordan Valley Innovation Center, the West Meadows area and Commercial Street.

The afternoon will conclude with a wrap-up discussion and brainstorming session at the new Community Foundation of the Ozarks building, 425 E. Trafficway.

The participants in Jordan Valley Resource Day include representatives of local, state and federal agencies that have invested funding and resources in Jordan Valley Park and Center City. The day is designed to show them what has been accomplished with those resources and elicit their ideas for future opportunities.
