Quarry Ends Acceptance of Clean Fill
August 31,
2006
The City of Springfield’s Quarry at East Trafficway and National Avenue will not accept any additional clean fill, other than what is already under contract, effective Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006.
The Quarry has filled up more quickly than anticipated due to the pace of construction in the Springfield area. The remaining space in the Quarry is reserved for contracts already in place to use the Quarry to deposit clean fill.
The Jordan Valley Advisory Committee is undertaking a process to look at long-range uses for the Quarry as a potential park or recreation feature consistent with the Vision 20/20 plan for Jordan Valley. Citizens will be invited to provide input on plans for the Quarry, as well as the West Meadows area. The first opportunity will be at a Jordan Valley Advisory Committee booth at Cider Days on Walnut Street on Sept. 16-17, 2006.
For more information, contact: Jonathan Gano, Assistant Superintendent of Streets, 864-1965. For information on the citizen involvement process, contact: Jan Horton, Chair of the Jordan Valley Advisory Committee, 862-3886.
