For Immediate Release: Springfield Police Investigating Assault

The Springfield Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred this morning at 1534 E. Kearney. At 5:48 a.m. officers responded to a report of a stabbed female. When officers arrived at 1534 E. Kearney, Apartment #2, they found a 43-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds.  Her 43-year-old boyfriend was taken into custody as the suspect. She is currently being treated for life-threatening wounds at a local hospital and the suspect is also being treated for minor injuries. Her identity will not be released until family members have been informed of her medical situation.

Springfield Police Detectives will be serving a search warrant on the residence and the scene will be processed for evidence. Assault charges are pending on the 43-year-old suspect.
