For Immediate Release: National Child Passenger Safety Week
The Springfield Police Department reminds motorists to: Buckle Up Children and Arrive Alive
The Springfield Police Department participated in the National Child Passenger Safety Campaign, which was conducted September 12-19, 2009. During this enforcement effort, officers issued a total of 615 traffic citations to include: 59 child safety and seat belt citations; 120 speeding citations; and 135 citations for other hazardous moving violations.
Members of the Springfield Police Department will continue to encourage parents/caregivers and all drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up AND to buckle up their children every trip–every time.
Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
