For Immediate Release: Springfield Police Investigate Serious Assault at 1544 E. Kearney

Springfield Police were summoned to 1544 E. Kearney #2, Rancho Court, at 5:46 a.m. (9-30-09) in reference to a man stabbing a female with a knife. Officers arrived and entered apartment #2 and found a male standing near a female on the floor who appeared to have serious injuries. The female yelled to officers she needed help. The suspect was taken into custody and the female victim, Sheila Bailie, was treated by EMS and transported to a local hospital where she was admitted in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.

The investigation indicated both the suspect and victim have been living together at apartment #2 and became involved in a domestic dispute when the assault occurred.

The Greene County Prosecutor has filed charges against Jonathan Clark Collins, 43-year-old male for First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action. Collins remains in custody in the Greene County Jail on $250,000 bond.
