The Handicapped Enforcement Action Team, or H.E.A.T., was founded in 1990 to assist police officers in the enforcement of handicapped parking. Members issue summonses for handicapped parking violations. They are provided with a police radio and a H.E.A.T. patrol vehicle. Members schedule their own time to work and usually work in teams of two.
Anyone interested in becoming a H.E.A.T. volunteer must complete a Volunteer Application and successfully pass a thorough background investigation and oral interview. You will not be denied acceptance due to gender, color, race, religion, creed, or national origin.
