Bowerman 4th graders win pizza party with Springfield firefighters

Bowerman Elementary 4th graders will soon receive a special treat – a pizza party with Springfield firefighters! During October, Springfield firefighters visited 26 schools in Springfield. During our visits, 4th graders were taught how to make a home escape plan showing at least two ways out every room in the home. The 4th graders then had one week to create their own home escape plan with their families to compete for the free pizza party, provided by Incredible Pizza Company. Mrs. Kroenke's class at Bowerman Elementary turned in the most home escape plans, with 19 out of 20 of her students participating! The pizza party will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, November 25. Our fire crew from Engine 2 will join the students for the party.

The Springfield Fire Department would like to thank Incredible Pizza Company for providing the students with a great incentive to take steps to better protect themselves from fire. And congratulations again to Mrs. Kroenke's 4th graders!

For media only: Media are welcome to attend the pizza party. For more information, contact Fire and Life Safety Educator Cara Erwin at 864-1699 or
