Fatality accident under investigation

At 8:20 a.m., the Springfield Police Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a yellow GMC Canyon traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 65 near Chestnut Expressway.

Near the U.S. 60/65 interchange, the GMC, driven by Robert Pinkley, 57, of Marshfield collided head-on with a northbound black Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Kimberly Steinberg, 42, of Cape Fair. A Hyundai Sante Fe, driven by Kim Roberts, 37, of Ozark, was behind the Chevrolet and was clipped and swerved off the roadway and into the median. Pinkley was pronounced dead at the scene. Steinberg was transported and admitted to a local hospital with injuries. Roberts was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

Pinkley's next of kin has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing.
