Spring Fling dance highlights World Down Syndrome Day

The Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's Accessible Recreation program present the 1st Annual Spring Fling dance Friday, March 21, 6-9 p.m., at the Northview Center, 301 E. Talmage, in Springfield's Doling Park.

The dance highlights World Down Syndrome Day, celebrated worldwide every March 21 to advocate for rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome, a genetic condition caused by having three copies (instead of two) of chromosome 21.

Friday's Spring Fling is open to anyone age 15 and older with a disability. The dance includes a DJ, free photos and light snacks. Attendance is $5 per participant at the door, but family members and caregivers are admitted free.
