DWI checkpoint results
The Springfield Police Department and The Greene County Sheriff's Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night at Jefferson Avenue and Kimbrough Street. A total of 449 motorists were contacted during the four hours the checkpoint was in operation. Ten drivers were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated or Drugged, six for Driving While Suspended/Revoked, five warrant arrests and three drug arrests.
The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
