Grand and Kimbrough intersection improvement begins June 2

A construction project to improve the traffic signal, roadway, stormwater system, utility and accessibility at the intersection of Grand Street and Kimbrough Avenue will begin Monday, June 2.

The $658,765 construction project consists of ADA, stormwater, utility, and roadway improvement, including a southbound right turn lane. Hartman & Company is the contractor for the project, which is funded from the 1/8-Cent Transportation Sales Tax for turn lane improvements. The entire project is scheduled to be complete in 140 calendar days, with the intersection required to be complete no later than Aug. 18.

Public Works will begin flashing the intersection's traffic signal red in all directions beginning Monday, June 2. The all-red condition will be supplemented and ultimately replaced with "all-way" stop signs by Friday, June 6. This operations change is required for traffic signal reconstruction component of the project.
