Central Street Recycling Coalition Kick Off Efforts

The members of the Central Street Recycling Coalition will celebrate the kick-off of their combined recycling efforts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at the recycling center site at the intersection of Central Street and Summit Avenue.

The Central Street Recycling Coalition members include: Ozarks Technical Community College, Drury University, Springfield Public Schools Administrative Offices, Central High School, City Utilities of Springfield, Springfield/Greene County Library – Carnegie Branch, Greene County and the City of Springfield. It is anticipated that this project will serve as a model for other business, industry and residential associations. Future plans include making the site available for employees, staffs and students of the member institutions.

Materials to be recycled include: mixed paper; cardboard; plastics; aluminum, tin and steel cans; and glass beverage containers. The materials will be collected at the former Tindle Mill site.
