For Immediate Release

Transportation Open House

The City of Springfield and the Missouri Department of Transportation will host an open house meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, for the public to view location plans for the James River Freeway and National Avenue interchange improvements.

The meeting will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan., 6, at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4600 S. Chrisman Ave.

Representatives from the City, MoDOT, and EFK Moen will be available to meet with area property owners and the public during the open-house meeting to discuss the project and to gather important public input.

The City and MoDOT are committed to working together with area property owners and the public at large to provide for an efficient interchange operation.

Because there will be no formal presentation the public is invited to come and go at anytime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Comment sheets also will be available for public input.

Anyone who cannot attend the public meeting can contact the City of Springfield’s Engineering Division at 864-1901 to review the proposed roadway location and to offer comments.

This project was approved by voters in the 1/8-cent sales tax for transportation renewal in August 2008.

For more information, contact: Michael Giles, Principal Civil Engineer, 864-1901.
