Eight Recent Incidents of Counterfeit Bills

The Springfield Police Department has received eight reports of passing counterfeit bills in the last few weeks. The denominations of the bills that were passed ranged from a $5.00 bill to a $100.00 bill. The Police Department wants to remind all businesses and private individuals to carefully examine currency that is received during a transaction. Whenever you believe that you are receiving counterfeit currency, don’t hesitate to contact 911 and request a police officer.
