Alleged Stabbing Deemed a Fabrication

On February 17, 2009 officers were dispatched to 701 E. Elm concerning a possible stabbing. A female resident at that location reported that at about 6:45 AM someone knocked at the door. She said she answered the door and an unknown male was standing there. According to the female, the male uttered a profanity and then stabbed her in the abdomen with a pocket knife. The female reported that the male then took off running. The female was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening wound.

Uniformed officers investigated the scene and detectives conducted follow-up interviews. After reviewing the scene investigation and follow-up interviews, it was determined that the story was fabricated and that the wound was self-inflicted. Police will be issuing a summons to the reporting female for filing a false police report.
