"You Drink & Drive You Lose" Campaign

Law enforcement officers across Missouri will be cracking down on drunk driving with increased enforcement March 13th – 15th. The Springfield Police Department will be participating in this effort by conducting a sobriety checkpoint and other high intensity DWI enforcement during this period.

It is never worth the risk to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers could lose their license, pay large fines, go to jail, OR, worst of all, cause a tragic loss of life.

In 2007, 243 people were killed and 4,897 injured on Missouri roadways as a result of alcohol-related crashes. Statewide statistics are still being compiled for 2008; however, in Springfield alone, 10 people were killed and 106 injured in alcohol-related crashes. This is not acceptable, and the Springfield Police Department will continue to use these types of operations to remove intoxicated and impaired drivers from our roadways.
