Police Investigate Armed Robbery of Snak Atak
The Springfield Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Snak Atak convenience store located at 310 South Scenic. On 4-01-09, a masked suspect armed with a gun entered the store and demanded money while a second suspect waited outside. The first suspect left the store after obtaining the money from the clerks. The two suspects then fled to a waiting vehicle that was parked nearby. Eyewitnesses provided officers with a detailed description of the vehicle including the license plate number. A short time later, patrol officers observed the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Chestnut Expressway and Lafontaine. The occupants were identified and arrested.
During the follow up investigation, physical evidence was recovered in the suspect vehicle linking the occupants to the robbery. The Springfield Police Department then executed a search warrant at 2618 W. College Street and recovered additional evidence. The suspects have been identified as:
- Zachary Matthew Richard D.O.B. 7-03-1985
- Joshua Lee Ballinger D.O.B. 7-27-1985
On 4-01-09, the case was submitted to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office. Upon review, first degree robbery charges were filed against the aforementioned suspects for their involvement in the robbery of Snak Atak.
Springfield Police are working with investigators from the Bolivar Police Department concerning additional robberies involving these suspects.
