Police Announce Bob Brown Promoted to Major
Police Chief Lynn Rowe announces the appointment of Bob Brown to Major effective April 12, 2009. Major Brown will take command of the Support Services Division, replacing Major Don Clark, who retired Friday, April 3.
He began his service with the Springfield Police Department as an officer in 1990 and was promoted to assignments including Criminal Investigations, Inspections and Internal Affairs before achieving the rank of Lieutenant for Traffic and Criminal Investigations in October 2006.
Major Brown, 55, holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Drury University. He is currently working on a master’s degree in Security Administration and Management at Webster University.
The Support Services Division includes: Records; Training; Internal Affairs; Crime Analysis; Resource Management; Budget Management; and Research and Development.
“Major Brown will be a positive addition to the Command Staff because of his diverse experience as well as his leadership and analytical skills,” Chief Rowe said.
