Community Open House at Springfield-Branson National Airport

Here’s a chance to get a peak at Springfield’s new airport terminal before it officially opens in May. The airport’s Community Open House is this Saturday, April 25, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. The terminal open house will give everyone a chance to see the terminal without security restrictions—you’ll be able to go from one end of the building to the other. More than 30 area businesses and civic organizations will participate in the open house. Many will have free gifts for the public.

About the Midfield Terminal

In June of 2006 the Springfield-Branson National Airport broke ground for a new terminal. Located on the west side of the airport, the new facility is scheduled to open on May 6.

The new terminal addresses several major issues:

Project Facts and Figures

The Airport borrowed $97 to pay for the new terminal project. Funding for debt service comes from airport revenue, passenger facility charges, and annual Airport Improvement Program Funds.

The debt service is extremely conservative - it strives to make annual payments that are 1.5 times the required amount. Even if passenger numbers drop 15 percent for 12 consecutive months, debt service can be maintained at 1.25 times.
