For Immediate Release
YRC Fee Waiver Continues for Residential Storm Debris
The City of Springfield will extend its waiver of the $3 residential gate fee through Sunday, May 17, 2009 for Springfield-Greene County residents who want to take vegetative storm debris to the Yardwaste Recycling Center.
Commercial fees will still apply.
In addition, the seasonal Sunday hours schedule will be extended at the YRC to include Sundays May 24 and 31. Hours for these Sundays will be 1 to 5 p.m.
Limbs should be cut into approximate four-foot sections and be less than six inches in diameter to go to the Yardwaste Recycling Center. Larger limbs, tree stumps and rootballs need to go to the Springfield Sanitary Landfill.
The Yardwaste Recycling Center is best equipped to handle any large residential or commercial loads. Small bundles (about the size of an armload) can be taken to the Lone Pine or Franklin recycling centers.
The recycling centers are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sundays through May 31. The centers are closed on Mondays to process the material.
The Landfill is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Normal Landfill tipping fees will apply.
Residents are asked to check with the Recycling Hotline – 864-1904 – for updated information.
