Springfield Police Arrest Robbery Suspect
Officers from the Springfield Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of the Battlefield Mall, 2825 S. Glenstone, this afternoon at 1508 hours in response to a call from a citizen who said he had just been robbed on the lot. The victim stated he had gotten into the passenger side of a vehicle when a white male subject approached him and threatened him with a knife through the open car window while demanding his money. The suspect took the money and fled northbound on foot. The victim followed and was able to obtain the license plate number and a very good description of the vehicle the suspect got into before leaving the scene.
The suspect’s vehicle information was broadcast to other officers, and, a short while later, another officer spotted the vehicle being driven westbound on Battlefield from Kansas Expressway. The vehicle was stopped in front of the SPD South District Station where the suspect was identified and placed under arrest for 1st Degree Robbery. He was then transported to the Greene County Jail. Formal charges are pending.
