Animal Trapping Service Changes

Due to budget cut backs, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department's Animal Control Program has implemented changes to its animal trapping program.

Effective July 1, 2009 Animal Control Officers will only set live animal traps for the following situations:

  1. Any bite requiring a trap.
  2. Dog traps to catch stray dogs.
  3. Skunk traps. The potential for rabies is higher in skunks, so staff will continue to trap them to prevent human exposure.

Springfield and Greene County residents are encouraged to purchase their own traps or contact a professional trapping service to resolve other animal trapping issues.

The Animal Control Office will be available to answer questions at 417-864-1126.
