Police Crack Down on Impaired Drivers

On Friday, August 21st, the Springfield Police Department focused extra enforcement efforts on impaired driving by conducting a sobriety checkpoint.

During the checkpoint operation, Springfield Police Officers arrested 6 individuals for driving while intoxicated.

This enforcement effort was part of the “You Drink & Drive – YOU LOSE” Campaign, which is a statewide effort cracking down on those driving while under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.

Drunk/drugged driving is one of America’s most often-committed and deadliest crimes.  Enforcement efforts of this nature help to take impaired drivers off the road and make travel safer.
