News Release

For Immediate Release

Jefferson at Olive Temporarily Re-opened

Jefferson Avenue at Olive Street is now open to traffic as of Friday afternoon. The road has been closed for more than a month to allow City Utilities to perform extensive repairs of a broken water main beneath the street.

However, repairs at this intersection are not fully complete. The street will be repaved by a contractor working for City Utilities in the coming weeks. An exact timeframe has not yet been determined.

In the meantime, drivers traveling south on Jefferson Avenue are urged to use caution at this intersection. A portion of pavement that was warped by water pressure below the surface forms a bump in the roadway. This area is marked with a temporary “Bump” traffic sign, and the traffic signal at Olive Street is flashing red signifying a four-way stop.

More information about repaving the intersection will be released when it becomes available.
